Vijayawada: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu shot off a letter to Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday asking him to ensure that man days required for agriculture and allied sectors be given as additional employment days besides 100 days of guaranteed employment.The first meeting of the chief ministers’ sub-group on convergence of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) took place on Thursday in Delhi.Chouhan is the convener of the group and Naidu along with other CMs was named a member of the group. he wrote a two-page letter to the convener in which he spelled out the views of the AP government.In his two-page letter, Naidu said the Union government should make the necessary additional provisions in MGNREGA, simultaneously protecting the rights of workers to work either in agriculture or other activities without budgetary constraints and quantitative restrictions.Naidu said there is an apprehension that linking agriculture with the MGNREGA scheme, especially asking workers to work as farm labour, might reduce the choice of work and number of man days and wages.
