Kiran Kumar Reddy rejoins Congress in RaGas presence

VIJAYAWADA: Former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday joined the Congress in the presence of Congress president Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi. "I am in touch with some 40 leaders who have joined other parties or have remained neutral," Kiran Kumar Reddy added.Earlier, APCC chief Raghuveera Reddy said some Congress leaders had gotten carried away by emotions following bifurcation. "The two Telugu states will get bifurcation benefits only if the Congress party is in power at the Centre. Also the provisions included in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014 are not being implemented in letter and spirit. It is for this reason, I have decided to come back to the Congress," Kiran Kumar Reddy said.The former chief minister further said that he would do his best to bring back the former leaders of the Congress and strengthen the party in Andhra Pradesh.

He was accompanied by AICC general secretary and Andhra Pradesh in-charge Oommen Chandy , Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president N Raghuveera Reddy, senior party leaders M M Pallam Raju, J D Seelam and others.Speaking to media persons, Kiran Kumar Reddy said he was indebted to Congress for his political career including the stint as chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh. "The two Telugu states will get bifurcation benefits only if the Congress party is in power at the Centre. The current BJP government has failed to fulfil the promises made by the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Rajya Sabha. Also the provisions included in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014 are not being implemented in letter and spirit. This is causing a lot of injustice to both Telugu states. It is for this reason, I have decided to come back to the Congress," Kiran Kumar Reddy said.The former chief minister further said that he would do his best to bring back the former leaders of the Congress and strengthen the party in Andhra Pradesh.
