HYDERABAD: Panjagutta police have started a pilot project for patrolling the streets on bicycles. Panjagutta inspector S Ravindar said this form of patrolling ensures that police are visible on streets and are readily approachable for people.“Constable on street bicycle patrolling duty can move easil y through crowded narrow lanes. The initiative was launched on Monday at Somajiguda, covering the narrow streets around Yashoda Hospital, as part of visible policing measures. It will soon be extended to BS Makhta, MS Makhta and Yellareddyguda. The street bicycle patrolling has a motto to reach every corner, at a slower pace to ensure the visibility of a patrolling team cop in crowded narrow lanes for a longer duration. After looking at results we will decide on future course of action,” additional commissioner (Law and Order), Hyderabad, D S Chauhan said.
