He was addressing a meeting organised to distribute digital safety information packs to 70 educational institutions in Vijayawada by local NGO Vasavya Mahila Mandali (VMM) and the Police. Mr. Tata said parents must keep a watch on their children while they used the internet as they may be unwittingly exposed to risks there. He said you should be cautious of cyber criminals trying to gain access to bank accounts and other sensitive information. It was imperative for parents and teachers to make children aware of the lurking dangers and measures to safeguard against them, he added. Multiple hazards Mentioning ‘gangs’ that could access bank accounts and sell it to frauds, he said, “the youth and children are glued to smart phones, which could not only cause eyesight problems but also lead to things that they may not be aware of.” Cyber cell CI Srinivas advised people to know security features of their cellphones and warned against sharing bank details.ACP V.V. Naidu said in the age of information explosion, children were exposed to harmful content that often had detrimental impact on them. VMM president Chennupati Vidya said parents and teachers should share the responsibility of inculcating values in children, while Technical Support Manager B.
