more-in Bhagyanagar Gas Limited (BGL) managing director S.V. Prasad inaugurated its first commercial gas pipeline connection at Hotel Ilapuram in the presence of its owner Ilapuram Raja in the city on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Prasad said the company was now ready to provide gas connections through pipelines in the city. He said that Piped Natural Gas (PNG) was affordable and also safe to have in households and commercial establishments. Caution deposit So far, a steel network of 36 km length in the city had been laid in the city and in the near future medium density polyethylene pipeline network of 125 km length would be laid, Mr. Prasad said. The company has 13 gas stations in the city. BGL project chief manager G.V. Venkatesh said a target of 14,000 household connections, 60 commercial connections, the establishment of six more CNG stations and others has been set for the current fiscal year. People can register for connection by paying ?500 and pay ?5,000 towards caution deposit after the connection is issued, he said. BGL is all set to issue connections in Andhra Pathrika Colony, Payakapuram, Ajith Singh Nagar, Devi Nagar, Satyanarayana Puram, Madhura Nagar, Gandhi Nagar and nearby areas right away, he said. Mr. Raja said that with pipeline gas, one can do away with bookings and cylinders besides saving ?1,000 to ?2,000 every month. BGL Marketing Chief Manager Mukherji and others were present. BGL is a joint venture of GAIL (India) Limited and HPCL.
