Krishna River makes way towards Nagarjuna Sagar from Srisailam

Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswar Rao told that as the monsoon continue till end of September, this year Nagarjuna Sagar we are hoping that Nagarjuna Sagar will be filled up completely this year. It's been 9 years since Nagarjuna Sagar project reached it's FRL level. Tungabhadra River continue to brim with 2.2 lakh cusecs of outflows from Tungabhadra project. The Krishna River is getting another 1.4 lakh cusecs from Jurala as all the projects from upstream completely filled to FRL levels. The water level at Nagarjuna Sagar stands at 530 ft as against 590 at FRL.

VIJAYAWADA: The Minister for water resources, Devineni Umamaheswar Rao along with irrigation officials lifted four Gates of Srisailam dam on Saturday morning as the Krishna River continue to receive more than 3.4 lakh cusecs of water from upstream. The 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th Gates were lifted up by 10ft releasing 25 cusecs of water from each gate totalling 1 lakh cusecs of water release into River through spill way.The water level at Srisailam reaches to 881 ft as against the Full Reservoir Level (FRL) of 885 ft. The water storage in the Srisailam dam stands at 193 TMC as against 215.8 TMC at FRL. The total outflow from Srisailam including the releases to other projects stands at 2.07 lakh cusecs.While Potireddypadu head regulator is getting 23000 cusecs of water, 2025 cusecs of water is being pumped from Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanti lifts. The Kalvakurti lift scheme on Telangana side continue to draw 1600 cusecs of water.With the water release from Srisailam spill way, the total inflows to Nagarjuna Sagar reached to about 1.75 lakh cusecs. The water level at Nagarjuna Sagar stands at 530 ft as against 590 at FRL. The dam holds about 168 TMC of water and the FRL capacity is 312.05 TMC. Tungabhadra River continue to brim with 2.2 lakh cusecs of outflows from Tungabhadra project. The Krishna River is getting another 1.4 lakh cusecs from Jurala as all the projects from upstream completely filled to FRL levels. Tungabhadra the major subsidory of Krishna River contributed most of the inflows into Srisailam. As the inflows most likely to continue for another five to six days, the irrigation officials are expecting about 80 to 100 TMC of water to Nagarjuna Sagar.
