VISAKHAPATNAM: Shock and disbelief have shrouded the GITAM campus in Visakhapatnam after the authorities got to know about the sudden and tragic demise of GITAM President, MVVS Murthy.From faculty members to students, everybody expressed shock and disbelief on the sudden demise of the founder father of GITAM.The Chancellor of GITAM Deemed to be University, Professor K Rama Krishna Rao pointed that there would be no interruption of academic activity in the University campuses and added that this is how he always wanted to be. “He was extremely un-obtrusive, when it came to running GITAM, he would not have wanted any unnecessary or ostentatious display of grief,” Professor Rama Krishna Rao said.The authorities of GITAM observed that the University would function as usual without any break in the schedule. Professor MS Prasada Rao, Vice-Chancellor GITAM observed, “It is an irreplaceable loss to the institution and great loss at a persona level. He guided us all through the process of institution building and is solely responsible for making GITAM an Institute with world class infrastructure; he literally built it brick by brick.”Pro-Chancellor Professor Siva Rama Krishna pointed that MVV Murthy was a meticulous planner and paid attention to the closest of details as far as GITAM was concerned, he pointed, “GITAM was is heart and soul he guided the administration all through the three plus decades and ensured that the campus is what it is today. He was an institution builder, who spared no effort in making GITAM a mega institution.”Students and staff expressed their grief over the death of Dr Murthy. The administration further announced that from henceforth the Gandhian Studies Centre in GITAM would be named the MVVS Murthy Centre for Gandhian Studies.
