more-in Sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force (CTF) arrested a cricket bookie, Sappa Ravichandra Mouli, and six others for organising betting. A sum of ?10 lakh, 22 cell phones and a laptop was seized from them, said Police Commissioner Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao at a press conference here on Saturday. The organisers – M. Jyothirveda Venkata Varma Raju, M. Srinivasa Rao, P. Durga Prasad, Gadde Viswanatham, Datla Venkata Satya Suryanarayana and Manthena Srinivasa Madana Varma – were natives of Rajahmundry, Guntur and Hyderabad. On September 27, the CTF police apprehended 15 persons, including a main organiser, Burri Satyanarayana of Mangalagiri mandal, for inviting bets from punters. The Ibrahimpatnam police registered a case then. As part of the investigation, police rounded up the remaining organisers on Saturday, said CTF Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajiv Kumar. Earlier case “Police arrested 22 persons involved in cricket betting in the case so far. A few more involved in the racket will be apprehended soon,” Mr. Tirumala Rao said and warned that rowdysheets would be opened against betting organisers and bookies and they would be externed from the city.
