4 die of swine flu in last month

No cases were reported from Anantapur.He said under the Integrated Disease Control Programme, 12 laboratory networks are providing support.

Two deaths were reported from Srikakulam and East Godavari districts.Union minister of state for health and family welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey told the Rajya Sabha that the Centre was monitoring the situation and was in touch with the states, including Andhra Pradesh to review their preparedness to combat the disease.Giving details of swine flu cases reported in AP since January this year, he said Visakhapatnam reported 32 positive cases, followed by Kurnool (9 cases), Guntur (8), Prakasam, Chittoor and Vizianagaram (5 each), Srikakulam (4), East and West Godavari (3 each), Krishna (2) and Kadapa (1). No cases were reported from Anantapur.He said under the Integrated Disease Control Programme, 12 laboratory networks are providing support. Diagnostic capacity has been strengthened by the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) through 41 virus research diagnostic laboratories to test clinical samples.Stating that a joint monitoring group under the Director-General of Health Services is closely monitoring the situation, the minister said the states have been asked to procure necessary logistics. The Centre is supporting the States to tide over the shortages during the crisis.According to official data, 402 cases were reported during 2018 with 17 deaths. Chittoor, Visakhapatnam and Kurnool districts were the worst-hit with 89, 80 and 66 cases respectively. During 2018, Kurnool reported six deaths, Chittoor three, and Visakhapatnam and Guntur two each.
