Present total installed air conditioner capacity of 80 million TR (Ton of Refrigerator) in the country may increase to about 250 million TR within 10 years resulting in the total connected load in India due to air conditioning will increase to about 200 GW (by 2030),” he saidHe also stated that normal human body temperature is approximately 36-37 degree Celsius and maintaining AC at a lower temperature of around 18-21 degree Celsius is unhealthy, uncomfortable and wastage of energy.

The state government, implementing the guidelines of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency BEE ) is heading to conduct huge campaigns on power saving measures.BEE director General Abhay Bakre , on the eve of the national workshop on the development of enforcement manual to enforce the Energy Conservation Act 2001 requested the AP government to focus on the making the changes in AC temperatures.“BEE has stressed the need for maintaining air conditioners at 24 degrees Celsius in all commercial establishments across the country and the same should be implemented in Andhra Pradesh too. Around 20 billion units (worth Rs 10, 000 crores) of energy can be saved annually in the country through such pro-active energy efficiency measures.
