Vijayawada: With senior TDP leader Dasari Jai Ramesh joining YSRC , the fight for Vijayawada parliamentary constituency would be intense.Jai Ramesh, owner of Vijay Electricals, has been a veteran TDP leader but met Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Friday in Hyderabad along with Daggubati Venkateswara Rao, Ummaredy Venkateswarlu and Adusumilli Jaya Prakash.Jai Ramesh said Chandrababu Naidu deceived him by promising Vijayawada MP ticket and Gannavaram MLA ticket earlier and broke the promise on two occasions.Jai Ramesh said corruption has become rampant during the TDP regime. He said the TDP leaders were demanding 20 to 30% commission for every work. He said each TDP MLA has amassed Rs 50 Cr to 100 Cr in the last five years.YSRC has been struggling to find a suitable candidate for Vijayawada. Koneru Rajendra Prasad, who fought the last election on a YSRC ticket from Vijayawada, has been keeping a low profile after he lost to TDP’s Kesineni Srinivas.Jai Ramesh contested from Vijayawada in 1998 but lost to Congress’s Parvataneni Upendra. His brother Balavardan Rao contested from Gannavaram assembly constituency for three times and won in 1999 and 2009. He was denied ticket despite being the sitting MLA in 2014 which strained relations with the party leadership and Dasari brothers have distanced themselves from the party.YSRC picked Jai Ramesh since Vijayawada is a stronghold of Kamma community. In the seven assembly segments under Vijayawada parliament seat, Kamma community plays a major role. In four assembly segments, TDP won six times out of nine elections held. All the winners are from Kamma community.Parties fielding Kamma leaders in Vijayawada parliament seat will boost chances of assembly candidates as well. Though Kammas are traditional TDP supporters, YSRC decided to opt for a strong Kamma leader.
