SATTENAPALLE: The small municipal was turned into ocean of humane on Friday when thousands of TDP activists stormed from several parts of Sattenapalle and Narasaraopet constituencies to take part in the rally that preceded the nomination filing of assembly speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasada Rao Almost all the roads leading to local tehsildar’s office were jam-packed with the party workers. Presence of huge turnout of TDP workers brought the normal life to a grinding halt for several hours on Narasaraopet-Sattenapalle highway. The TDP rally took nearly four hours to cross just 5km distance. Women lined up on the entire road stretch between Narasaraopet and Sattenapalle to join the massive rally.Youth leader Dr Kodela Sivaram led the rally of party workers from the front. He had a tough time in moving the rally ahead as party activists keep joining the procession. With the schedule muhurth arriving fast, Dr Sivaram had to run along with the convoy to make the cadres gave way to Dr Kodela reach the returning officer’s office. Party workers from Rajupalem, Nekarikallu, Sattenapalle, Narasaraopet and Rompicherla mandals were jostled with each other to greet Dr Kodela Sivaprasada Rao and Dr Sivaram. According to unofficial estimations, about 25000 people attended the massive rally.Daring the scorching heat, thousands of workers turned up to the rally. Police had a tough day in managing the crowds as they outnumbered the capacity of the streets in the small town. With hundreds of TDP fans joining the rally on bikes, Dr Sivaram joined the rally and managed the young cadres. “Jai Chandrababu, Jai Dr Kodela, Jai Dr Sivaram,” slogans reverberated the town.Visibly cheerful Dr Kodela wished the party workers with folded hands and sought their support. He reached the tehsildar’s office at around 2pm and filed the nomination papers to the returning officer.After submission of papers, Dr Kodela launched campaign in the town. Speaking to the locals, Dr Kodela thanked the locals for extending support in the past elections and he was overwhelmed with the way the people joined his nomination rally. He said that they have developed Sattenapalle constituency as a model segment in the last five years and they would take its development to further heights. He promised to bring big-ticket projects to the town to make it a jewel in the capital city Amaravati’s crown. He said that he would also take personal care to see every eligible person receive the benefits of the government welfare programmes.
