Vijayawada: A political row erupted over the decision of Election Commission of India (ECI) to transfer three IPS officers, including director general (intelligence).While YSRC welcomed the orders, TDP lodged a protest over the transfers. Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu wrote a letter to the ECI saying that the decision to transfer the officials was shocking. He said the EC’s decision was in contradiction of its own guidelines and violates the principles of natural justice.Naidu said the three officers were transferred based on a complaint given by YSRC in less than 24 hours without even conducting a preliminary enquiry as the order communicated by the ECI did not mention any reason.Naidu took objection to the transfer of director general (intelligence) A B Venkateswara Rao as he was not involved in poll-related duties. He said the primary duty DG (intelligence) was to provide security to him and his cabinet colleagues and other political leaders. Transferring the DG (intelligence) at this hour in the midst of election campaign was nothing but a deep-rooted, well-orchestrated design born out of a criminal conspiracy hatched by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and duly abetted by K Chandrasekhar Rao and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleged Naidu.While protesting the transfer of Srikakulam SP, A Venkata Ratnam, Naidu alleged that YSRC has an inherent hatred towards the Kapu community and under this prejudice YSRC has been complaining against his posting. Transferring such an officer was nothing but prejudice shown by the ECI, alleged Naidu.Objecting to the transfer of Kadapa SP, Rahul Dev Sharma, Naidu said the ECI has become a party to the YSRC conspiracy. Rahul Dev is investigating the murder case of Y S Vivekananda Reddy. Naidu said relatives of Vivekananda Reddy tried to erase evidence from the crime scene. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to bring out culprits and the presence of SP was critical, said Naidu.
