Ms. Surekha is a popular archer, who, so far took part in 25 international events that included Asian Games, World Universities, Asian Cup, Asian Championships and several World Cup fixtures for the past seven years. Twenty-year-old city archer Vennam Jyothi Surekha, a final year engineering student of Koneru Lakshmaiah University, is all set to wear the Indian colours for the eight consecutive year as she was selected to represent the country in the World Cup I and II stage compound competitions in China and Turkey. However, Ms. Surekha will be in contention for World Cup IV to be held at Germany for which the selections will take place in July. The other important international events lined up this year for her are World Universities at Chinese Taipei in August and senior World championships in October at Mexico. Speaking to media persons, she said she bagged the selection by hauling 16.5 points out of 21 in the selection trials held recently in New Delhi.
