more-in Agasti Aslesh Kumar, an Intermediate student of Andhra Loyola College, has been selected to participate in Pentathlon in the UIPM 2017 World Championships to be conducted in Viveiro, Spain, from September 20 to 25. However, he falls short of the money required towards travel and other expenses. He studied in Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV-I) here, and sought his teachers’ help. Each of them pooled in money and gave him ?25,000. He still does not have sufficient funds required to fly to Viveiro. “My mother mortgaged her gold ornaments and gave me ?1 lakh. I still need another ?2 lakh. I am expecting help from philanthropists to pool the remaining amount and help me participate in the championship,” he said, adding, “As this sport (Pentathlon) has no funding from the government, I need to make my own arrangements.” Aslesh Kumar secured third rank in 8th modern Pentathlon championship 2017 conducted in Pune in August. He completed the event in 27.28 minutes. Based on this, he was selected as a member of 18-member team participating in the championship. Pentathlon coach K. Srinivas is giving him the training.
