JD.com chief Liu is back in China following US arrest

JD.com, one of China’s tech heavyweights, competes with larger rival Alibaba Group, and Liu has a net worth of $7.9 billion, according to Forbes. A Minnesota-based lawyer for Liu, Earl Gray, said Liu denies any wrongdoing, and added he does not expect his client to be charged, noting that Liu was released without charges or bail, and was allowed to return to China. JD.com has said that the accusation against Liu, 45, was unsubstantiated. Liu built JD.com from scratch. Trade in JD.com shares is set to resume on Tuesday as U.S. markets are closed for the Labor Day holiday on Monday.
