Families of terror attack victims to get quota in MBBS and BDS admission

The move will be applicable for 2020-21 academic year; these seats will form the central pool for seats for medical students.

Children and spouse of terror attack victims will get reservation quota in MBBS and BDS admission. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has written a letter to chief secretaries of all the states and the UTs along with the vilified guidelines in this regards.

Children of people posted in war driven states, who are exposed to substantive risk due to their assignment mainly related to combating acts of terrorism, children of people who have come under the hit list of terrorist organizations and children of families of have migrated from Kashmir due to current situation and have lost their means of livelihood including their business or properties are also eligible for the central pool of MBBS and BDS seats.

The selection will be based on the Nation Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) or other qualifying exam as prescribed by the Medical Council of India.        

The beneficiaries of the central pool of MBBS and BDS seats include states and UTs who are deficient in medical education, children who’s any direct family member or parent has been killed in an act of terrorism or has been victim of cross firing or firing by armed forces in combating terrorism in UT’s of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
