Kamakhya Temple - Guwahati

Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati is one of the most prominent Shakti Peeth. It is said that Guwahati was the place where Sati’s yoni (vagina) fell.  Inside the cave one can find a sculpture of her yoni which is considered to pious. The temple witnesses hhighfootfall of enthusiastic devotees in the season.

How to reach:

The temple is 6 km away from the railway station and 20 km from the airport. Regular busses and auto are available to reach thetemple.

Tripura Sundari Temple- Udaipur 

According to the stories, Tripura Sundari Temple is the place where right foot of Sati fell during Lord Shiva’s tandav. The temple was built back in 1501 by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya (king of Tripura). Here people pray to Maa Kaali, in the form of Soroshi.

How to reach:

The temple is easily accessible as it is located within the city and is well connected with roads, rails and airways.

Kalighat Temple- Kolkata 

Bengal is lauded with festivity, from roads to shops and food stall everything echos of the festival. In Kalighat Temple the toe of right foot of Sati fell. The temple is more than 2000 year old and people visit it from all over the country.

How to reach:

The temple is at a prime location in the city, hence it can be reached by local transport like buses, taxis, auto etc.

Jwala Devi Temple- Kangra Valley

Located in Himachal Pradesh, it has a beautiful ambience. It is about 40 km south of Kangra Valley. The temple features nine flames, each after the name of 9 Goddess.

How to reach:

The best route to Kangra is via Delhi by roads. One can also board a train to Kathgodam and follow a txi route from there.

Chamundeshwari Temple- Mysore 

The temple is set atop Chamundi Hills in Mysore. As the story goes, it is the place where Sati’s hair fell. Later in the 12th century a temple was built by Hoysala rulers after the Goddess. People in large numbers visit the temple to see the brilliant architecture of the temple and to seek blessings of Goddess.

How to reach:

One can take a flight to Bangalore and then reach Mysore from rail. But they will have to take a taxi to reach the temple.
