Water supply of habitual offenders to be snapped; Rs 5K for reconnectionTribune News ServiceAmritsar, April 21Keeping in view the water crisis in various parts of the country, the Municipal Corporation (MC) has planned to impose fine for water wastage. Not only residents, but also government departments, including the civic body offices, can be seen wasting water by not getting repaired the broken taps. The water supply and sewerage wing has conducted a meeting and constituted teams to check the violation. If the same household repeats the offence, it will have to pay Rs 2,000. MC Commissioner Sonali Giri has issued a notification, stating that if a household is found wasting water for the first time, he or she will have to pay Rs 1,000.
