Amritsar, April 26The Municipal Corporation (MC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hindustan Petroleum (HP) to make the city open defecation-free (ODF) till July 2018. The MC also signed an MOU of Rs 10 crore for the improvement of sanitation and garbage management around Golden Temple area. A commitment of Rs 2 crore was made by the oil major for the construction of community and public toilets in the city. Sonali Giri said the company would construct public toilets to make the city open defecation-free. The MoU was signed in the presence of Minister for Local Bodies Navjot Singh Sidhu and Mayor Karamjit Singh Rintu and MC Commissioner Sonali Giri.
