Naveen Sharma, a resident, said, “Supporters of political parties often cover signboards with hoardings and visitors face inconvenience. After his appointment as Mayor, Karmajit Singh Rintu had ordered the MC staff to remove all congratulatory hoardings from roads and streets. The officials said they did not have the required number of trucks and other vehicles which were required to remove the hoardings. The MC’s advertisement wing is still struggling to remove the hoardings of newly announced Cabinet ministers.

The supporters also covered signboards, causing inconvenience to visitors and commuters. These days, installing hoardings by political workers to welcome their leaders to the Golden Temple has become a routine affair. The MC’s advertisement wing is still struggling to remove the hoardings of newly announced Cabinet ministers. Advertisement wing officials said they had been facing a shortage of staff and sometimes, they had to hire private workers to initiate the task. The officials said they did not have the required number of trucks and other vehicles which were required to remove the hoardings. After his appointment as Mayor, Karmajit Singh Rintu had ordered the MC staff to remove all congratulatory hoardings from roads and streets. No other Congress leader, including Navjot Singh Sidhu, implemented the instructions. Residents and visitors face inconvenience due to the installation of hoardings on roads. Naveen Sharma, a resident, said, “Supporters of political parties often cover signboards with hoardings and visitors face inconvenience. Moreover, they install hoardings around roundabouts, which distract the drivers and become a hurdle in their visibility.”
