Our Correspondent Tarn Taran, May 24 Mystery shrouds the death of a 23-year-old youth who died of “poison” at a private hospital in Bhikhiwind, 35 km from here, on Tuesday. The Khalra police have registered a case under Section 306 of the IPC against Babbalpreet Kaur, her brothers and uncles. The deceased has been identified as Damandeep Singh of Sultanwind road, Amritsar. Damandeep Singh came to Khalra on Tuesday. Later, he was admitted to Vijay Hospital, Bhikhiwind, where he died the same day. His father Baljit Singh said Damandeep had a love affair with Babbalpreet Kaur and he used to meet her in Khalra. Damandeep Singh came to Khalra on Tuesday after receiving a call from Babbalpreet. “Babbalpreet along with her brothers and uncles poisoned him, following which he died at a Bhikhiwind hospital. The accused had been threatening him for long,” he alleged. Khalra SHO, Sub-Inspector (SI) Gurcharan Singh said the deceased was semi-conscious on Tuesday. He was admitted to a private hospital in Bhikhiwind where he succumbed, he added. Tilak Raj, SP (Investigation), said said further investigation was on.
