The video footage shows villagers telling that the suspect, Jasbir Singh Jass, was selling a pouch of drugs to an addict, Arshdeep Singh, when they were held.

Amritsar, July 9 Three booked Residents of Dharad village find Jasbir Singh Jass selling a pouch of some intoxicating material to Arshdeep Singh. They thrash both of them before handing them over to the cops at the Jandiala Guru police station. The villagers also get the entire episode videographed that has gone viral on social media. Jass is said to be the driver of an LPG cylinder delivery van. Along with them, the police have registered a case against one Deepa, from whom they had procured the drugs. The villagers recorded a video of the incident that has gone viral on social media. The video footage shows villagers telling that the suspect, Jasbir Singh Jass, was selling a pouch of drugs to an addict, Arshdeep Singh, when they were held. The addict said that he had purchased the same from the accused for Rs 400. The accused drives a van to deliver LPG cylinders. SSP Parampal Singh said Jasbir Singh Jass and Arshdeep Singh along with Deepa, from whom they had procured the drugs, had been booked and further investigation was under way. Many non-government organisations (NGOs) along with religious organisations have joined the fight against drugs. A Sikh organisation recently caught a 20-year-old girl of Jagatpur village in Tarn Taran selling heroin after one of its members approached her as a decoy ‘customer’. The incident was videographed, the police were called and the girl was handed over to them. Significantly, more and more locals are coming forward to give information about the people who have been selling drugs. It is turning out to be a people’s movement against drugs. With the recent spate of deaths due to consumption of spurious or adulterated drugs, the dejected public appears to have made up its mind to make significant contribution for elimination of the drug menace. .
