BATHINDA: There are signs of pest attack on cotton crop at Khuia Sarwar block of Fazilka district . Nearly 250 B Sc students of Punjab Agriculture University have been asked to work in cotton fields for four months. Agriculture department officials and students have been directed to keep in touch with farmers and give them knowhow through demonstration farms. The state agriculture department has decided to set up demonstration fields to make cotton growers aware of ways to control increase in ETL.The agriculture department has also asked BSc agriculture students to concentrate on areas where pest attack is suspected. For medium staple, it was increased from Rs 4,020 to 5,150 and for long staple, it was increased from Rs 4,320 to Rs 5,450.
