The SSP said Gurjeet contacted Sandeep and Harpreet, president and youth wing president of Balmiki Ekta Sangarash Dal, respectively, seeking their help to evade his arrest and get his name removed from the case. AMRITSAR: Police here have registered a case against three persons, including an ASI and two local leaders, for allegedly helping a drug peddler to avoid arrest and go scot free.Amritsar (rural) SSP Parampal Singh said on Thrusday that a case had been registered against Narinder Pal, ASI, Sandeep Singh and Harpreet Singh at Tarsikka police station. Both Narinder and Sandeep had been arrested while Harpreet was absconding, he said.Giving details, the SSP further said a case had been registered Gurjeet Singh, a resident of Chajjalwandi, at Khalchian police station under the NDPS Act. “Both took Rs 30,000 from Gurjeet and gave Rs 19,000 to the ASI,” said the SSP, adding that after that no one from Tangra police post raided the house of Gurjeet. During investigation, the accused said Baljit Singh, who was also booked under the NDPS Act, had taken his name before the police in a drug peddling case following which ASI, police post Tangra, Narinder Pal had raided his house.
