AAP candidate for Zila Parishad elections shot dead

BATHINDA: The Aam Aadmi Party AAP ) candidate in Zila Parishad elections from Gill Kalan zone in Bathinda , Harwinder Singh, was killed Sunday late night at his home in village Jethuke.Some unidentified persons opened fired at him at around 11pm on Sunday, said police. The police are looking into the role if those three persons. Police must investigate the case and arrest the guilty persons at the earliest. Harwinder had injury marks on his head. "Sources said Harwinder was seen as a strong candidate with high chances of win.The police are looking into the angle of political rivalry behind the murder.Bathinda SSP Nanak Singh said that he was spotted with three persons last night and is learnt to have consumed liquor.

Harwinder, accompanied by Bathinda rural Assembly constituency MLA Rupinder Kaur Ruby, had filed his nomination papers on September 7, the last day for filing nominations for elections to be held on September 19.MLA Ruby said, "it is unfortunate incident as Harwinder was very bold and honest person. Police must investigate the case and arrest the guilty persons at the earliest."Sources said Harwinder was seen as a strong candidate with high chances of win.The police are looking into the angle of political rivalry behind the murder.Bathinda SSP Nanak Singh said that he was spotted with three persons last night and is learnt to have consumed liquor.
