Panthic outfits to urge Mand to end Bargari morcha

BATHINDA : Panthic outfits have decided to appeal to the acting jathedar appointed by Sarbat Khalsa, Dhian Singh Mand, to end his morcha (sit-in) at Bargari in Faridkot district. We have decided to meet Mand soon to impress upon him to end the morcha in light of the decision taken by all Panthic bodies.” Mand started the morcha at the grain market of Bargari on June 1. We will approach governors and the President for the third demand of release of Sikh prisoners. They will prepare cases to be sent to governors and the President to grant them pardon under Article 161 of the Constitution.Leaders of the Panthic bodies, on Tuesday, said they took the decision in a joint meeting and would appeal to Mand to end the morcha.

Mand is staging the sit-in demanding arrest of those involved in desecration of Guru Granth Sahib , release of Sikh prisoners who have completed their sentences and other issues.Members of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), United Akali Dal (UAD), Akali Dal (1920) and Dal Khalsa said considering that those guilty of sacrilege have been arrested and policemen accused of killing two protesters at Behbal Kalan on October 14, 2015, have been named as accused, the morcha should be suspended.On the demand for release of Sikhs lodged in various jails of Punjab and other states, Panthic bodies will take up the matter with the state and Union government. They will prepare cases to be sent to governors and the President to grant them pardon under Article 161 of the Constitution.Leaders of the Panthic bodies, on Tuesday, said they took the decision in a joint meeting and would appeal to Mand to end the morcha. Mand started the morcha at the grain market of Bargari on June 1. Sarbat Khalsa-appointed ‘jathedar’ of Takht Damdama Sahib, Baljit Singh Daduwal also accompanied him.Talking to the media in Bathinda on their behalf, Mann said, “As a special investigation team (SIT) headed by deputy inspector general of police (DIG) Ranbir Singh Khattra has arrested, a few Dera Sacha Sauda followers accused of sacrilege and four police officials have been named in the case of killing Sikh protesters Gurjit Singh and Krishan Bhagwan Singh at Behbal Kalan, two of our main demands have been met. We will approach governors and the President for the third demand of release of Sikh prisoners. We have decided to meet Mand soon to impress upon him to end the morcha in light of the decision taken by all Panthic bodies.”
