Separatists to use access to Kartarpur Sahib to lobby for Khalistan

AMRITSAR: Foreign-based Sikh separatists will campaign against India during the 2019 celebrations marking the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev at Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan and have also “set up” a group of activists, described as “administration” of “Khalistan.”US-based Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) had earlier announced its plan to campaign for Khalistan through its controversial Referendum 2020 at Kartarpur Sahib. “We will make the global Sikh community aware that the Indian government is responsible for genocidal violence against Sikhs. We aim to get all structures in place within three months so our negotiating team is ready to begin discussions on all aspects of a Sikh homeland,” the Sikh Federation said. Names of the 51-member executive team have, however, not been made public and most of them will stay anonymous.“At meetings at the UN earlier this year, it was suggested only when the ‘Khalistan’ administration was in place could serious negotiations begin with other nations to gain backing for a Sikh homeland. Sikhs are facing extermination in India during the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev at Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib,” SFJ legal adviser Gurpatwant Singh Pannun said.Thousands of Sikhs from around the world, including India, will converge to celebrate Guru Nanak’s 550th birth anniversary at Kartarpur Sahib.UK-based Sikh Federation this weekend declared it had “set up the administration” for “Khalistan” in principle during its 35th annual international convention at Guru Nanak Gurdwara, Willenhall, West Midlands, UK.Sikh Federation’s Gurjeet Singh said on Tuesday that over 10,000 Sikhs from over 15 countries participated in the convention.A 101-member Khalistan advisory board of recognised activists across the globe will be the public face of the “administration.”An essential component which would maintain the heartbeat of “Khalistan administration” was a 51-member executive team that would draw up detailed plans for all aspects of the administration, including the legislature (Khalistan parliament-in-exile); judiciary (supreme court, chief justice, court of appeal) and departments that would run Khalistan.
