Women passenger dies in a bus accident near Chamba

CHAMBA: A woman died while over a dozen passengers sustained injuries after a private bus toppled near Chamba on Wednesday.Superintendent of Police (SP), Chamba, Monika Bhutungru informed TOI that a private bus was on way to Chhatari from Palampur with a total of 40 passengers.She further informed that the driver of the bus lost control due to which it toppled and turned sideways at Luna, Bharmaur. However, it was prevented from falling in the gorge due to crash barriers installed on the road she added. As many as 15 passengers sustained injuries who were rushed to Chamba medical college for treatment.The deceased has been identified as Kaushalya, 50, resident of Kuhar village, Bharmaur.SP said that the preliminary investigations revealed that the accident happened due to the negligence of bus driver adding that police were in process of registering a case.
