Badal aide Tejinder Singh Midukhera booked for threatening officials during panchayat polls

BATHINDA: Muktsar police have registered a case against Shiriomani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Tejinder Singh Midukhera, who is a close confidant of the Badal family. “I have filed a complaint against ASI Shamsher of supporting Congress leaders but no action has been taken against him rather I have been implicated,” he added. “The case has been registered after investigations,” he said on being asked about the delay.Midukhera has termed the case as politically motivated. Police, however, did not say why they took so long in registering the case.

BATHINDA: Muktsar police have registered a case against Shiriomani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Tejinder Singh Midukhera, who is a close confidant of the Badal family. The case has been registered on the complaint of assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Shamsher Singh for disrupting officials from discharging their duty and threatening them with dire consequences at Killianwali village polling booth during the zila parishad and panchayat samiti elections on September 19.Midukhera was elected to Muktsar zila parishad. Police, however, did not say why they took so long in registering the case. Killianwali was in news the polling day when former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal had gone there and had complained of rigging of the polls. Congress workers had accused Sukhbir of threatening them.As per the complaint filed by ASI Shamsher, he was on duty on September 19 at booth number 48 at Killianwali when 60-70 persons led by Midukhera came there and prevented them from discharging their duty. They snatched his mobile phone and threatened to kill him, the ASI alleged in his complaint.When contacted, Muktsar SSP Manjit Singh Dhesi said the case had been registered against Tejinder and 60-70 unidentified persons under various sections for disrupting official work and criminal intimidation. “The case has been registered after investigations,” he said on being asked about the delay.Midukhera has termed the case as politically motivated. “First, the Congress rigged elections and when I won despite rigging, it targeted me to scare me but we do not bother about these things,” he said. “I have filed a complaint against ASI Shamsher of supporting Congress leaders but no action has been taken against him rather I have been implicated,” he added.
