BATHINDA: Scores of farmers from villages of Mansa are preferring to transport their crop across the state border to grain markets of Haryana instead of taking the crop to Punjab mandis. A commission agent said that some arhtiyas have taken licenses in Haryana as well and go to purchase centres in Haryana to buy grains.Mansa deputy commissioner Apneet Riyat admitted that the farmers from Mansa were taking their produce to Haryana mandis. She said, "It is happening because we are very strict on moisture content. As far as purchases of grains with more moisture content are concerned it has not come to notice, except only one case at village Babbanpur. "When contacted, Fatehabad deputy commissioner J K Abhir said, "Though some of the cases of Punjab farmers taking crop to purchase centres of Haryana at bordering villages have come to fore but the activity is only at small scale.
