Police register case against fifty unknown protesters

AMRITSAR: Police have registered a case against 50 unidentified persons residing in the vicinity of Joda Phatak in Amritsar for pelting stones at the policemen on Sunday. According to police reports, a case under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC had been registered against fifty unknown persons at the Mohkampura police station.Angry residents of colonies situated in the vicinity of Joda Phatak had held a demonstration against the government and pelted stones at police when they tried to disperse them. Polcie had also resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse the crowd.Reacting to the registration of the police case, BJP secretary Tarun Chugh said it was unfortunate that no FIR had been registered against the persons responsible for death of 59 persons who were mowed down by a train during the festival of Dussehra.
