Jatha leaves for Katasraj; ETPB restores Sri Amar Kund

The excessive use of underground water had dried up Sri Amar Kund at Katasraj, which is one of the UNESCO world heritage sites of Pakistan.The Hindu jatha would stay overnight at Gurdwara Dera Sahib before leaving for Katasraj on Monday. “They welcomed us with photographs of Lord Shiva, served langar and now, we are going to Gurdwara Dera Sahib, Lahore , where the ETPB had made arrangement for our stay,” said Bajaj. The jatha would return on December 15. In the past the ETPB had also ordered idols of Hindu deities for installation at the Katasraj cluster of temples but the Hindu jatha, which was to leave in February 2018, was cancelled due to border skirmishes.Bajaj further said that they were received at Wagah by ETPB secretary Tariq Wazir, Faraz Abbas and other officials. “Now, there is eight to nine feet deep water in the holy pond,” he said.In recent past, Pakistan’s Chief Justice (CJ) Mian Saqib Nisar had reprimanded the owners of the cement factories situated in the vicinity of Hindu temples at Katasraj for extravagantly and mindlessly using the subsoil water for their personal interests.

AMRITSAR: Indian Hindu jatha upon reaching Wagah ( Pakistan ) on Sunday were in for some good news when officials of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) informed them about the restoration of Sri Amar Kund (holy pond) at the Katasraj cluster of temples.Talking to TOI over phone from Wagah, president of Hindu Jatha Shiv Partap Bajaj said that, “We are happy to know how the ETPB has taken care of our religious place and they have restored Sri Amar Kund.” Bajaj led the Hindu jatha to visit Katasraj temples in Chakwal district of Pakistan from Attari (India) on Sunday.Giving details, deputy secretary, ETPB, Hindu Affairs, Faraz Abbas said the ETPB had carried out intensive development work at Katasraj and taken strict action against the managements of nearby cement factories. “Now, there is eight to nine feet deep water in the holy pond,” he said.In recent past, Pakistan’s Chief Justice (CJ) Mian Saqib Nisar had reprimanded the owners of the cement factories situated in the vicinity of Hindu temples at Katasraj for extravagantly and mindlessly using the subsoil water for their personal interests.
