Huge quantity of intoxicants seized

Initially, the police seized 25,000 intoxicating tablets, along with 7,000 capsules, from his possession. He worked with Gill Enterprises. Later, during a raid at a shop of the company at Katra Sher Singh area, police and health personnel confiscated intoxicants, including Tramadol and injections worth Rs 9.80 lakh. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigations) said that drug officials would take action under Drug and Cosmetics Act against Jatinderjit Singh and Simranjit Singh, both partners of Gill Enterprises.

Amritsar, June 7 In a major seizure, the city police have confiscated a huge quantity of habit-forming drugs from a youth, who works with the private pharmaceutical firm having office at Katra Sher Singh area here. He has been identified as Sahil Kumar, alias Sunny (26), of New Colony at Gawalmandi. Initially, the police seized 25,000 intoxicating tablets, along with 7,000 capsules, from his possession. He worked with Gill Enterprises. Later, during a raid at a shop of the company at Katra Sher Singh area, police and health personnel confiscated intoxicants, including Tramadol and injections worth Rs 9.80 lakh. Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigations), on Friday said that during heightened security in the city on Thursday, the police intercepted a car near Gilwali Gate, being driven by Sahil. During search, the police found 25,000 intoxicating tablets and 7,000 capsules. He could not produce any document in support of the drugs he possessed. He was taken into custody. During preliminary interrogation, it was found that he was going to Tarn Taran for delivering the consignment. Besides Tarn Taran, he used to supply the same to Majitha and Kathunangal. Later in the evening, during further course of investigation, CIA staff, led by Sukhwinder Randhawa along with drug inspectors Bableen Kaur and Sukhdeep Singh, raided the premises of M/s Gill Enterprises at Katra Sher Singh and seized two kinds of allopathic drugs. As many as 47,500 tablets of Clovidol, containing Tramadol, and 2,900 injections of Oxytocin, were confiscated. Though bills regarding the medicines were there, the drugs were in violation of Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Drug officials said that there was no purchase bills for 2,900 injections. Further, the injections’ storage condition was also not up to the mark. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigations) said that drug officials would take action under Drug and Cosmetics Act against Jatinderjit Singh and Simranjit Singh, both partners of Gill Enterprises.
