Shop in Liberty Market gutted

The fire spread panic among shopkeepers, who tried their best to prevent it from spreading to other shops. Rakesh Pahwa, who owned the paint and chemical business, said he had a store and a record room in his shop. A generator was running near the shop in which the blast took place. He raised the alarm and immediately nearby shopkeepers gathered at the spot and tried to extinguish the fire, but it spread in no time.

Amritsar, June 8 A shop in crowded Liberty Market was gutted by fire on Saturday. A blast in a generator is stated to be the reason behind the incident. Records pertaining to paint and chemical trade were gutted. The fire engulfed the shop in no time after the blast. Three fire engines were used to douse the flames. The fire spread panic among shopkeepers, who tried their best to prevent it from spreading to other shops. Fire system of a nearby private hospital was also used for firefighting until fire brigade teams reaches there. It took around an hour to control the situation. Rakesh Pahwa, who owned the paint and chemical business, said he had a store and a record room in his shop. A generator was running near the shop in which the blast took place.
