Amritsar, June 13 A delegation of the Punjab State Ministerial Staff Association today met Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu and apprised him of the problems faced by them. The association leaders stated that the minister had assured them of a meeting next week to take up the issues. Association president Sukhwinder Singh and general secretary Jagdish Thakur said they hoped that the issues would be addressed so that employees were not forced to hold work which resulted in the loss of government revenue and harassment of general public. The association apprised the minister of the problem faced in getting the bills of medical reimbursement cleared. “At present it is taking around eight to nine months. It would be better if the bills are cleared in 15-20 days. Further we have suggested that the powers to clear bills up to Rs 2 lakh should be delegated to Civil Surgeons,” said Thakur. The association demanded time-bound promotions. “The positions at senior levels are lying vacant and eligible and deserving employees are not being promoted. If the employees get time bound promotions, they would work diligently,” said Sukhwinder Singh. The association also demanded that GP fund accounts should be made available online. The association demanded creation of new posts at new districts and revision of posts at all places in view of the increased work load.
