Eight booked in dowry case

Tarn Taran, June 17Eight members of a family have been booked in a dowry case by Patti city police. The complainant, Kanwaljit Kaur (22), is daughter of a Patti resident who lodged a police report against the accused. The police said the accused had been identified as Satbir Singh of Amritsar, husband of the woman, father-in-law Gurnam Singh, mother-in-law Harjit Kaur, Daler Singh, Gurmit Singh, Shamsher Singh, Mandeep Kaur and Kuldeep Singh. Kanwaljit Kaur was married to Satbir Singh a half and one year ago. According to the complainant, Satbir got married for the second time without divorcing Kanwaljit Kaur.

According to the complainant, Satbir got married for the second time without divorcing Kanwaljit Kaur. Sections 498, 494, 406 and 120-B of the IPC have been slapped. — OC
