1,000 perform yoga at admn camp

INT’L DAY OF YOGAAmritsar, June 21The district administration organised a camp to celebrate the International Day of Yoga at Guru Nanak Stadium on Friday. Almost 1,000 people participated in the 45-minute camp and performed yoga ‘asanas’ under the supervision of qualified trainers. Yoga asanas, including tarasana, vajra asana, pranayama, meditation, etc., were performed during the camp. Yoga practioners from Issa Foundation held the yoga camp for 100 inmates of the Amritsar Central Jail. Meanwhile, in Tarn Taran, 800 yoga enthusiasts, besides officials from different departments, participated in the yoga celebrations.

It was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Himanshu Aggarwal. Almost 1,000 people participated in the 45-minute camp and performed yoga ‘asanas’ under the supervision of qualified trainers. District administration officials, including SDM-2 Shivraj Singh Bal, Assistant Commissioner (General) Amandeep Kaur, District Sports Officer Gurlal Singh, District Ayurvedic Officer Dr Atamjit Singh Basra among others were present. Yoga asanas, including tarasana, vajra asana, pranayama, meditation, etc., were performed during the camp. “The aim is to create awareness regarding yoga as a healing and meditative science. Yoga is about physical and mental well-being. Today’s camp was to encourage more people into adopting yoga as a lifestyle habit,” said Himanshu Aggarwal. The Punjab Police division also marked the day by hosting yoga camps. The Amritsar Central Jail also observed the day as Superintendent Arshdeep Singh Gill lead the camp. He informed about the benefits of yoga. Yoga practioners from Issa Foundation held the yoga camp for 100 inmates of the Amritsar Central Jail. Meanwhile, in Tarn Taran, 800 yoga enthusiasts, besides officials from different departments, participated in the yoga celebrations. Deputy Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal was the chief guest. The DC urged the participants to make yoga a part of their daily routine. Functions were organised at Punjab Children Academy, Mata Sahib Kaur Girls Senior Secondary School, Bharowal, and Pinelands International Convent School, Gaggobua. Schoolchildren were given tips on yoga. — TNS
