Govinda’s daughter marks birthday in city

The star kid rang in her birthday that falls on July 16 by praying and performing sewa at the Golden Temple. For the last three years, I have been coming to celebrate my birthday at the Golden Temple. Not new to the holy city, Tina said that it was during her recent visits that she started exploring Amritsar. Punjabi films are getting globalised with good content.

Neha Saini Amritsar, July 17 Tina Ahuja, daughter of Bollywood star Govinda, paid obeisance at the Golden Temple, along with her mother Sunita Ahuja. The star kid rang in her birthday that falls on July 16 by praying and performing sewa at the Golden Temple. “I am spiritually connected with Amritsar as I have been coming to the city since childhood. For the last three years, I have been coming to celebrate my birthday at the Golden Temple. It is a place I consider most peaceful and beautiful,” she said. Not new to the holy city, Tina said that it was during her recent visits that she started exploring Amritsar. “Since childhood, we have a family tradition of enjoying the yummy lassi at Ahuja’s famous outlet. I love eating other street food delicacies, like tikki and Amritsari kulcha,” she said. Also indulging in some street style shopping, Tina, who is a fashion stylist as well, said she loves splurging on ‘phulkari’ and Punjabi ‘juttis’. Workwise, the young actor, who made her Bollywood debut with Gippy Grewal with the film ‘Second Hand Marriage’ in 2015, is open to working in Punjabi films. “I love the Punjabi cinema. Every now and then, I enjoy watching romantic films. Punjabi films are getting globalised with good content. Since I have already worked with some of the big names in the Punjabi cinema, including Smeep Kang and Gippy Grewal, I feel at ease with the industry.” She plans to watch Punjabi film Shadaa, starring Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa. Choosing to stay away from media and public eye, Tina shares that she wants to let her work represent her. “I have learnt it from my father that my work should be the one getting me spotlight. He has been my mentor and critic as well.”
