Our Correspondent Tarn Taran, September 3 The district police have busted a gang of robbers with the arrest of three of its members and seized a sword and a datar (sharp-edged weapon) from them. The gang was involved in robbing vehicles posing as Taxation Department officials. The police have registered a case under Sections 399 and 402 of the IPC. The police have impounded the Bolero used in the crime. The gang was active on NH-54. The arrested robbers have been identified as Ajaib Sigh Jaiba, Rachhpal Singh Pala and Gurbhej Singh Bheja of Ruriwala, while two of their accomplices, Gurlal Singh and Gursajan Singh of Ruriwala village, managed to escape, SP (Investigation) Harjit Singh Grewal said here on Tuesday. The SP said the gang members in a brick kiln at Dhotina village, 15 km from here, were holding a meeting on Monday evening when the Sarhali police raided the spot. He said the police had yet to recover the pistol used in the crime. The SP said the robbers used to park their Bolero on the road to stop vehicles coming from other states and loot them on gun point.
