Robbers’ gang busted, 3 held with country-made weapons

Nevertheless, five of their accomplices managed to escape from the spot when the police raided in Bhinder village canal distributary. Those arrested were identified as Lovpreet Singh of Jandiala, Malkeet Singh of Kaler Ghuman and Yadbir Singh of Athwal village. According to the police, Gurlal Singh and Ravinder Singh of Kaler Ghuman besides two unidentified youth slipped away from the scene. The police confiscated a .315 bore pistol with two bullets, a .32 bore pistol and a .12 bore double barrel gun with one and five rounds, respectively, from their possession.

Those arrested were identified as Lovpreet Singh of Jandiala, Malkeet Singh of Kaler Ghuman and Yadbir Singh of Athwal village. According to the police, Gurlal Singh and Ravinder Singh of Kaler Ghuman besides two unidentified youth slipped away from the scene. A case under Sections 399, 402 of the IPC and Sections 25,54 of the 59 Arms Act has been registered against them. Paramjit Singh, SHO Khalchian police station, said the police got a tip off that the accused were involved in robbery and lootings in the area and that they were hiding near Bhinder Canal distributaries. He said a raid was conducted which further led to the arrest of three at around 10 pm yesterday. Remaining accused fled the scene. Raids are on to nab them. The police confiscated a .315 bore pistol with two bullets, a .32 bore pistol and a .12 bore double barrel gun with one and five rounds, respectively, from their possession. He said further investigations were on to ascertain the sources of weapons and robberies committed by them.
