The party workers demanded that the case against Bains should be cancelled immediately and action taken against erring officials. “At first, the Deputy Commissioner failed to close an illegal firecrackers factory where a blast claimed the lives of 24 persons recently. And then he failed to come up to the expectations of the victim families,” said Amrik Singh Varpal, party’s Majha zone in-charge. He said Bains had raised voice to help the people who were in distress when the official machinery was sitting comfortably in air-conditioned rooms. The party workers also raised slogans against the state government.

Amritsar, September 10 Members of the Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) on Tuesday burnt an effigy of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh in front of Hall Gate to protest against the registration of an FIR against Adampur MLA Simarjit Singh Bains for his alleged misbehaviour with Gurdaspur Deputy Commissioner Vipul Ujwal. “No action has been taken against any of the erring officials,” he said. Party’s district president Mandeep Singh Babbi said the Deputy Commissioner offices throughout the state had become a den of corruption and a commoner could not get his work done without giving bribe to employees working there. The party workers also raised slogans against the state government.
