Sarhali Khalsa college management ‘not even paying DA as per govt norms’ Amritsar, September 16 In response to a call given by the Punjab Chandigarh Colleges Teachers Union (PCCTU), a local unit of DAV College observed a black badges day in protest against the management of Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College Sarhali, Tarn Taran. Unit president Dr Gurdas Singh Sekhon said the local management committee of the college was not paying full salary to the staff for long. They had not even paid arrears of Sixth Pay Commission from 2006 to 2010. He also stated that the dearness allowance to the staff was not paid according to the norms of the government. He said: “When college teachers tried to bring this in the notice of the GND University and government officials, the management terminated services of five permanent teachers of the college.” District president Dr BB Yadav said the Department of Public Instructions had stopped grant to the college as it had not submitted utilization certificate to the department. As a result of this, the teachers had not been paid for the past 13 months, he said. Summi Arora, Principal of Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Sarhali, Tarn Taran, said: “No rule has been broken and no teacher’s service has been terminated illegally. Everything has been done according to the law.
