Two robbed of Rs 4 lakh in broad daylight

Tribune News ServiceAmritsar, September 20Four armed robbers allegedly looted Rs 4 lakh from two persons travelling on a scooter to deposit the cash collected from two firms in a bank. The incident occurred at Ranjit Avenue B Block in broad daylight here on Friday. Today, they collected cash to the tune of Rs 4 lakh from a showroom at Trillium Shopping Mall and from a hotel and were going to deposit the same on their scooter. Deepak said when they reached at B Block, Ranjit Avenue, they were intercepted by four robbers travelling on two bikes. At that time Rs 5 lakh were snatched from them.

Amritsar, September 20 Four armed robbers allegedly looted Rs 4 lakh from two persons travelling on a scooter to deposit the cash collected from two firms in a bank. The incident occurred at Ranjit Avenue B Block in broad daylight here on Friday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar along with other senior police officials reached the spot and carried out investigations. The police were scrutinising close circuit cameras installed in the area to find any clue about the perpetrators of the crime. The victims Deepak Kumar and Sunil Kumar work in a private money transfer company having its office at Lawrence Road. They stated to the police that their firm collect cash from big trading houses and showrooms and later deposit the same in the bank. Today, they collected cash to the tune of Rs 4 lakh from a showroom at Trillium Shopping Mall and from a hotel and were going to deposit the same on their scooter. They had kept the cash in the scooter’s dickey. Deepak said when they reached at B Block, Ranjit Avenue, they were intercepted by four robbers travelling on two bikes. They alleged the accused had hit a vehicle and started a scuffle with them. He said they opposed them and soon the unknown accused started thrashing with pistol’s butt while another youth took out an iron rod. He said they snatched their scooter on gun point and fled the scene. Later, they informed the police control room about the incident. Bhullar said the investigations were on in the case. He said the incident was not recorded in any of the CCTV cameras installed in the area. He said earlier too Deepak was targeted by robbers three years ago. At that time Rs 5 lakh were snatched from them. He said the police were looking into the status of the previous case also.
