302 creations on display at art exhibition

Dharam Singh Engineer Memorial silver plaque, along with Rs 31,000, was bagged by Abhilasha Singh. Art Gallery chairman Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina and president Shivdev Singh were also present.

Amritsar, October 20 Noted sculptor Ram Vanji Sutar, who designed the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue, was the chief guest of the 85th All India Exhibition of Arts that began at the Indian Academy of Fine Arts (IAFA) on Sunday. Sutar inaugurated the exhibition that will remain open till November 5. Various artists from across the nation participated in the exhibition. IAFA honorary secretary Arvinder Singh Chamak said, “The exhibition comprises five categories — painting, drawing, graphic, photography and sculptures. As many as 793 entries were received out of which around 302 have been displayed.” Sutar appreciated the art works on display. Commenting on the need to connect the younger generation and the budding artists to art, he added, “One should stay close to the nature and learn constantly. Art work varies from person to person.” Anjali Aggarwal received SG Thakur Singh memorial silver plaque with cash reward for Rs 51,000 for her drawing. Dharam Singh Engineer Memorial silver plaque, along with Rs 31,000, was bagged by Abhilasha Singh. Eleven artists were given award of excellence certificates. Ten participants were also given Rs 21,000. Art Gallery chairman Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina and president Shivdev Singh were also present.
