Amritsar, November 2 The Deputy Commissioner’s Office has written to the Commissioner, the Municipal Corporation, to conduct an inquiry and file a report about the NOC issued by the Municipal Town Planning (MTP) wing to operate multiplex screens in a shopping mall at Novelty Chowk. The inquiry has been demanded by a local RTI activist SS Sharma, who earlier raised the issue of building bylaws violation of the same mall. Sharma claimed in his complaint to Deputy Commissioner that MTP Wing of MC had granted permission to a multiplex brand from New Delhi to operate four screens in the Shopping Mall on July 31. SS Sharma said, “The shopping mall does not have the NOC as it was cancelled in February 2016 following illegally occupying the adjoining road and violating building bylaws. Even, the mall owner does not have the NOC issued by the Fire Department. The file of the case had been misplaced and the MC made a complaint to the police in this regard. When the file is missing, how MTP wing gave its permission to multiplex chain? Only Principal Secretary, Local Bodies, can issue an NOC, in case where file is missing”. SS Sharma smelled that in the connivance with Shopping Mall owner, the MTP wing officials issued fake NOC to multiplex chain. “I have demanded the record about the NOC issued in July from MTP wing through RTI. I did not get it till the date”. MC Commissioner marked the inquiry to Additional Commissioner in this regard. Sandip Rishi, Additional Commissioner MC said, “I got the file yesterday. I will see the matter on Monday.
