Amritsar, November 3 The two-day ‘Kikli’ children festival concluded at Majha House today. Deputy Commissioner Shivdular Singh presided over the event and appreciated the efforts of the Majha House team for promoting arts and book culture. The first session was with noted writer and avid bird watcher Bulbul Anand. She read tales from her own book ‘Tales from the Himalayas’. The children too came up with many interesting and innovative pictures of trees. The second session was conducted by Vaishali Shroff. She took the children on a memorable trip to the Jurassic era and narrated tales from the pre-historic era. In the third session, noted writer Venita Coelho held an interactive storytelling Escape from Badmash Badshah’s dungeon, a tale taken from her book ‘Dungeon Tales’. In her another session, she enthralled the audience with tales of ghosts and ghouls. In the last and fourth session of the forenoon, Sanjana Kapoor, noted theatre artiste, regaled the young audience with her favourite tales. The second section of the day began with noted writer Paro Anand interacting with children about her book ‘Being Gandhi’. Gurmeet Kaur, a Canada-based writer who has been working for the revival of the Punjabi language, shared Punjabi folk tales with the young audience. She narrated famous tales from the rich Punjabi folk heritage, like ‘Kukkad da vyah’. Majha House founder Preeti Gill said, “It was a fun experience for the children. They had loads of fun participating in the workshops, doing activities which were aimed at captivating imaginations, inspiring minds and giving them wings.”
