Flower show begins at Guru Nanak Dev varsity

Tribune News ServiceAmritsar, December 9Prof Shaweta Shenoy, Dean, MYAS-GNDU, on Monday inaugurated Bhai Vir Singh Flower and Plant Exhibition here. Various types of flowers and plants had been displayed by the entries received from affiliated colleges, schools and individuals. Students from various departments reached near the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan of the Guru Nanak Dev University to witness colours of nature. The exhibition was organised to associate students with nature and to promote floriculture and plantation in the society. Eminent scholars of the field Dr YC Gupta, Dean, College of Horticulture, HP University; Dr Parminder Singh, associate professor, Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana; and others will also be present at the event.

Prof Shenoy encouraged the students to cherish the nature and flora that it presents. Students from various departments reached near the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan of the Guru Nanak Dev University to witness colours of nature. The exhibition was organised to associate students with nature and to promote floriculture and plantation in the society. This will be concluded on December 10. The objective of this exhibition was to attract youth towards nature. Horticulture consultant Dr JS Bilga said the result of various competitions was declared by a panel of three experts of the field, namely Dr Avinash Kaur Nagpal, Dr Ashwani Luthra and Dr Mohan Bhardwaj. The winners of these competitions will be awarded and honoured tomorrow at the seminar which was organised on floriculture and plantation. Eminent scholars of the field Dr YC Gupta, Dean, College of Horticulture, HP University; Dr Parminder Singh, associate professor, Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana; and others will also be present at the event.
