SNIPPETSAmritsar: A male servant from West Bengal at a goldsmith's shop decamped with 392 gms gold nose pins here on Monday. Parmjit Singh told the police that he handed over 392 gms gold nose pins to his servant for polish and went to the market. When he came back and found the accused was missing with the gold. Nirvail Singh, house owner, told the police that he along with his family members had gone to Jawala Ji temple when thieves struck at his house. The Galliara police have registered a case and the body has been handed over to the Civil Hospital's mortuary for 72 hours.

The accused has been identified as Deepak Mandal, a resident of Tara Nagar in West Bengal. Parmjit Singh told the police that he handed over 392 gms gold nose pins to his servant for polish and went to the market. When he came back and found the accused was missing with the gold. The police have registered a case under Section 381of the IPC in this regard. TNS House burgled Unidentified thieves burgled a house in the Vallah area. Nirvail Singh, house owner, told the police that he along with his family members had gone to Jawala Ji temple when thieves struck at his house. He said when they came back and found that windows were lying broken, goods were scattered all around, gold tops and foreign currency were stolen from the house. The police have registered a case under Sections 380 and 457 of the IPC. TNS Two pickpockets arrested Two pickpockets were arrested for stealing the wallet of a devotee at the Golden Temple complex here on Tuesday. The accused have been identified as Parwinder Singh, a resident of Kathwala Jamna Nagar and Malkit Singh alias Pinda, a resident of Sultanwind. ASI Daljit Singh, incharge, Galiara police post said the accused were about to run away after stealing the wallet from Ram Singh Gill but they were nabbed by devotees and handed over to the police. A case under Sections 379 and 411of the IPC has been registered against the accused. TNS Man dies during treatment A man, who set himself fire accidentally at his house at Dhobian Wali Gali, died while undergoing treatment at Guru Nanak Hospital here on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Rakesh Kumar. Shelly Ludhra, a relative of the deceased, said Rakesh was under the influence of liquor on Sunday. While dousing the flames of a cigarette after smoking, his clothes accidentally caught fire. TNS Unidentified body found The unidentified body of a person has been recovered from Sri Guru Ram Dass Sarai located in Golden Temple complex. As per the information, the clean-shaven man appeared to be 60-65 years of age and wore a light pink colour shirt and white pyjama. The Galliara police have registered a case and the body has been handed over to the Civil Hospital's mortuary for 72 hours.
