The van was flagged off by Civil Surgeon Dr Narinder Kaur from the Civil Hospital. She said timely diagnosis of TB could help in easy treatment. She said the van would display audio visual messages and distribute literature. She said TB was a preventable disease and also easy to treat provided the patient consults a physician in time. “As a general precaution, the prolonged cough should be taken seriously and the affected person must consult a doctor,” she added. TNS 11 arrested for gambling Amritsar: The CIA staff have arrested 11 persons for gambling and seized Rs 2.91. One of their accomplices managed to escape. Those arrested have been identified as Rakesh alias Bedi of Jai Singh Road, Manohar Lal alias Manohari of Kot Atma Singh, Sandeep Kumar of Sharifpura, Ravi Parkash alias Sunny Kanwal Kumar of Hussainpura, Ashish Khanna of Palm Vihar, Amrit Kumar of Nagina Avenue, Rahul Bajaj of Kucha Kherdin, Gagandeep Singh of Sultanwind, Rohit Mahajan of Sardar Avenue, Sajan Mahajan of Kucha Khairdin and Ashu Sodhi of Sharifpura. Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Navi Abadi, fled. A case under Gambling Act was registered against them. They were later released on bail. He was on the run for the past six months in connection with seizure of narcotics. The police received a tip-off that the accused had come to his house following which a raid was conducted and he was arrested. TNS Gold chain snatched Amritsar: Kanwaljit Kaur, a local resident, has complained to the police that two unknown persons snatched her gold chain on Wednesday. She was going to Gawal Mandi when she was targeted near Randhawa Dairy. The accused were travelling on a motorcycle. TNS
